Urban Animal Beer Company (Downtown)

Urban Animal Beer Company is one of the few breweries I haven’t visited in Colorado Springs, even though it’s been around for a few years. There are two locations: One on Hwy 115 across from Ft. Carson, and the one downtown on Tejon. I chose the Tejon location since being at a brewery next to an Army post seems like trouble.
The downtown location fills the spot left by Red Swing Brewhouse, and Fieldhouse before them—both now out of business. Hopefully my visit to this location isn’t a curse! I’ve always liked the location and the building, so I’m glad breweries keep filling the space.
There’s a good variety of beer with some creativity, like the imperial hefeweizen (which I reviewed), a pancake blueberry ale, a couple sours, and a cheesecake stout (red velvet stout). There standards as well, like IPAs and hazy IPA’s, normal stouts, and lighter beers too.
I think it’s got a pretty good vibe. It definitely feels like a downtown space, meaning that it’s not sprawling and vacuous, but a little more intimate. I’m not quite sure why there are vinyl records covering the walls, but I’m sure there’s something obvious I’m missing regarding the owners’ story.
There isn’t any food made on the premises, but I believe they have food trucks show up in their back parking lot, next to their small patio. Coati is across the street, which if you don’t know, is a space with a bunch of street food style vendors. So, food is close.
In the words of a famous AI killing machine, "I'll be back."
